Do we really have such feelings??? Are we not pretending??? Are we ready to sacrifice our personal interest over national interest??? These questions take us to the caption of today’s debate i.e. “pseudo nationalism” and I strongly stand for the motion.
Today Kashmir and many northeastern regions are demanding separation from India. Regionalism is dominating over nationalism. Naxalism is spreading its wings across the length and breadth of the country. They proclaim themselves to be unorthodox social reformers. But do they really think of national interests??? It is very clear that such factions never rise beyond their parochial interests to think of country as a whole.
Indian politics has become POLYTRICKS. The politicians, who are supposed to be the makers and molders of destiny of any country, stoop to any level for the sake of power. Instead of solving the fundamental problems like poverty, unemployment, illiteracy; they are busy in filling their own coffers.
How can then we expect the country to pursue national interest in true spirit where the very leadership is engaged fulfilling their own interest.
The pass outs of renowned institutions like IIT & IIMs never hesitate in moving out of this country for lucrative jobs. They never think of paying back the country what it has given them in the form of subsidized education. These intelligentsia don’t leave any stone unturned for getting citizenship of US & European nations.
Everyone jumped out from their couch when Bindra or Sushil or Vijender won a medal in Olympics but eyebrows will be raised if anybody asks for contributions against training of future Olympians. People readily criticize the government for poor infrastructure, but so also towards the taxation policies that are meant to comply such needs. Nationalism in present era is only taken as fluttering the national flag & chanting national slogans.
Owing to the crunch of time I would like to wrap up my subject with these words that-The nationalism we posses today is like the froth in the beer bottle which looks exquisite but is futile.
